This thing called life...
When I was in elementary school, my mother watched a neighborhood kid. His parents worked with my dad and he was 5 months older than me. I moved sophomore year of high school, he graduated the year before me and our parents still get together a few times a month.
Well, after two years of fighting, he succumbed to cancer this afternoon.
His wife and four kids (the youngest was born the same week he started chemo) are obviously pretty broken up by this as are his parents (he was their only child.)
Life is precious. Bad things happen to good people to show how strong we can all be.
He kept a smile on his face and fought through to the end.
Hug your family tonight.

Fuck dude, I’m sorry to hear that. Cancer is bullshit.
Full of the sound of the Gran Fury, signifying nothing.

I just lost a friend to cancer last week; the funeral was on Saturday. It was a grueling few months and I’m glad that his pain is finally over. Tonight a few of us are going out to hoist a few in his memory and remember the good times.
Now I just have to help his roommate kick the smoking habit so that he doesn’t end up like our friend, although I know it’s a tough one to break. The will and desire need to be there, and although I’ve heard the talk about switching to a less dangerous alternative, I haven’t seen the action.
